SENATOR ANNOUNCES AWARD OF RECYCLING GRANTS

          Harrisburg, August 15, 2007 -- State Senator Michael A. O’Pake today announced that four Berks County municipalities have been awarded Recycling Performance Grants totaling nearly $100,000 by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
          According to Senator O’Pake, the following municipalities have been awarded Recycling Performance Grants:

          Senator O’Pake explained that eligibility for this grant funding was based on the total tons of materials recycled in a municipality during calendar year 2005.  He also noted that the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection is authorized to provide these grant funds by the Pennsylvania General Assembly.
