EXETER TOWNSHIP AWARDED $1 MILLION GRANT

Harrisburg, November 19, 2007 -- State Senator Michael A. O’Pake today announced that Exeter Township has been awarded a $1,000,000 grant through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Energy Harvest Grant Program to support the establishment of a $7.5 million Regional Biosolids Drying Facility.

“This project will use innovative technologies and solutions to address significant environmental and energy use issues, including reducing the land-filling of biosolids and the production of an alternative source of fuel for an industrial operation,” said Senator O’Pake. “This is the kind of forward thinking initiative that could serve as a model of cooperation, alternative energy use, and environmental protection in other areas in the Commonwealth.
“I was pleased to strongly support the township’s application for funding,” added Senator O’Pake.
The Department of Environmental Protection is authorized to provide these funds by the Pennsylvania General Assembly.
